Disc Formats

A hard drive also offers some other amazing features such as the ability to pause live television which is an incredible feature, when you press pause the DVD recorder automatically starts recording the programme and then plays it back when you press play. It then keeps recording and playing back as you watch so that you never hit the end of the recording, you can also fast forward and rewind in this live pause state as you are watching from the hard drive and not the live broadcast.

Freeview

Digital television is also available with many DVD recorders in the form of Freeview and this is also an excellent feature as it means you can record in the high quality digital format and also enjoy this quality when you are watching the television.

A Freeview digital tuner also makes your recording easier as you can often simply select programmes from the Freeview menu and press the record button so that the programme will be recorded instead of having to set time and channel information.

Some DVD recorders also have two Freeview digital tuners so that you can record two programmes at once or watch one while you record another, you can also do this if you already have a Freeview digital tuner in your television or set top box.
